About Vanmerloot Music Pros:
Juan's journey as a drummer has taken him to studio sessions across the UK and the Netherlands. His passion for recording music ignited at an early age, experimenting with the "pingpong" technique using mono tape cassette players. By the time he was 14, Juan was already playing drums for jingles and demos at a local studio, ‘Joe’s Garage’. It was there that he encountered engineer Lats Varga, who left a lasting impression on him. "Lats infected me with his passion," Juan recalls, "teaching me to focus on the finer details in music and to always strive for the best live audio recordings."
As his career evolved, Juan had the privilege of collaborating with renowned producers such as Ken Thomas (Jacob's Studios), Paul Lilly (Real Life Ltd.), Curtis Schwartz (Curtis Schwartz Productions), John Sonneveld, Pim Koopman (Wisseloord Studios, RIP), Don Willard (RIP), Robin Freeman (Fendal Sound Studio), Ernst Jansz (Dureco Studio), and George Koning (Sound Vision). These experiences taught him the art of listening to the acoustics of a live room, mastering the use of various microphones, and seamlessly blending analogue with digital recording techniques.
Today, Juan continues his work at Sound Vision Studio, regularly recording drums for international clients including Marco Canepa (Italy), BiOS Productions (Italy), French House Recording Studio (France), Arthur Antoine Theunissen from STUDIO CUBE, and George Konings at Sound Vision Studio. He also contributes to TheRoomRecordings Productions.
At Vanmerloot Music Pros, Juan's production work spans singles, EPs, and full albums for a wide range of artists, including John Bundrick (The Who, Bob Marley), Stef Burns (Alice Cooper, Sheila E), Snowy White (Roger Waters), Between The Jars (NL), FREDERIKE MUSIC (NL), SIMIO Jazz (NL), G30 (NL), ART of NATIONALITIES (UK), and songwriters like Niccoló Bolchi (IT), Micha Molthoff (NL), Emiel Scholsberg (NL), Ravenna Moscoso (NL), Alex Leenheers (NL), David Laun (DE), and Anton van der Mee (NL).
Throughout his studio work, Juan has had the honor of recording top musicians such as Jeannine La Rose, Leon Klaassen, Mathilde Santing, Thomas Bank, Arnold van Dongen, Snowy White, Stef Burns, Ivo De Greef, Rolf Delfos, Ferry Lagendijk, Mark Bogert, and Martin Verdonk, preserving their performances with the same passion and precision that has guided him throughout his career.
