About John “Rabbit” Bundrick
John “Rabbit” Bundrick is a highly respected American rock keyboardist, pianist, and organist whose distinctive sound has left a lasting mark on rock, blues, and reggae music. Best known for his expressive Hammond organ playing and soulful piano style, Bundrick has contributed to some of the most iconic recordings and live performances in modern music history.
Throughout his career, John “Rabbit” Bundrick has worked with an extraordinary range of legendary artists. He performed on albums and tours with The Who, where his keyboard work became an essential part of their live sound during the 1970s. Beyond The Who, his credits include collaborations with Bob Marley and the Wailers, Roger Waters, Mick Jagger, Free, Back Street Crawler, and Crawler, among many others. His versatility allowed him to move effortlessly between hard rock, blues, soul, and reggae, always bringing depth and musical character to every project.
Bundrick is not only a sought-after session musician but also a creative force in his own right. His ability to blend technical mastery with emotional expression earned him the respect of fellow musicians and fans worldwide. Over the decades, his playing has influenced countless keyboardists and remains instantly recognisable.
Final Album: Mr. Big Boss Man
John “Rabbit” Bundrick’s upcoming album, Mr. Big Boss Man, is set to be released soon and is described by the artist as the final album of his career. The record stands as a powerful and personal statement, reflecting a lifetime dedicated to music, creativity, and performance.
This album represents one of the most colourful collections from the repertoire of songs John Bundrick has written. That he has never confined himself to a single musical style throughout his career is evident from the vast catalogue of music available online. Although John is often hired as a session musician for numerous projects and major artists such as Bob Marley and The Who (to whom he has remained loyal for 25 years), he never stops composing.
With Mr. Big Boss Man, John decides to release one more album and enlists the help of drummer and producer Juan van Emmerloot. The two first meet while working together on studio sessions and tours with Snowy White in 1996. Beyond their strong musical connection, a close personal friendship develops. John gives Juan complete freedom to select material from his entire compositional catalogue.
Juan chooses to compile a collection that reflects the wide range of musical styles John explores, resulting in an album that is rich in variety and takes the listener on a musical journey. From the powerful steady rock track “Asylum”, featuring Jimmy Kunes tearing through the speakers with his raw vocal performance, to the cinematic ballad “Hole In My Head”, with an emotional lead vocal by Jamie Bruhn; from the Zappa-inspired fusion “Grown-Ups”, led by Ben Rodenburg, to the deep groove and relaxed atmosphere of “Living On A Level”, featuring Gregg Kofi Brown.
As John “Rabbit” Bundrick writes himself:
“This is probably the last album I will ever do… I met Juan when we both worked together with Snowy White…
so I had to have Juan on board for my solo album ‘Mister Big Boss Man’.
Juan is a professional and works with the best musicians on so many projects.
My advice: if you are doing your own music, then get Juan on board;
you will have the best man around to give you the best album.
So enjoy my music and tell everyone you know about it…”
